Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-5806/Fax: (251) 208-5813 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org FIRE INVESTIGATORS SEEKING INFORMATION Mobile Fire-Rescue Department Investigators are seeking any information regarding a fire that occurred at the now vacant Copeland's Restaurant located at 6401 Airport Boulevard and Hillcrest Road on Monday June 5, 2006. A passerby reported the fire on a cell phone at approximately 12:17 p.m. When firefighters arrived at approximately 12:19 p.m. they reported heavy smoke showing from the large single-story building. The fire originated and was confined to a small area in the kitchen of the building. There was heavy smoke damage throughout the building causing an estimated $100 thousand in damage. Based on evidence collected at the scene it appears the fire was deliberately set. Fire Investigators are hoping someone may have seen someone or vehicles in the area of the building prior to the fire and are asking anyone with any information to please call 208-7497 or 208-7311. The Mobile Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are also assisting in the investigations. ###
