FIRE INVESTIGATORS DETERMINE CAUSE OF APARTMENT FIRE
Investigators with the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department have the determined the cause of a fire at the Hunter’s Point Apartment’s located at 3205 Lloyds Lane Monday evening, January 21 to be accidental. The fire was reported at approximately 8:49 p.m. The fire appears to have been caused by an unattended pot of the stove. The occupant of apartment M6 told investigators he had placed a pan of grease on the stove and left the kitchen to check on his child. Upon his return there was a large amount of fire over the frying pan. He attempted to extinguish the fire with some nearby flour but his efforts failed. At that time he gathered his wife and child and exited the apartment.
The fire damage extended to three other apartments causing varying degrees of damage. Damage is estimated at approximately $80 thousand. No injuries were reported.
