October 26, 2010 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (SH2010-40) FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION R. Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org FIRE DESTROYS UNOCCUPIED HOUSE Firefighters responded to a fire in a single story, unoccupied structure Tuesday morning, October 26 located at 2089 Scarborough Circle, West. The call was received at approximately 4:43 a.m. and firefighters reported heavy fire and smoke coming from the structure upon arrival. Neighbors told firefighters that the house should be unoccupied as it was under going renovations. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and found it to be empty. The structure was totally destroyed and appears to have started in the wall of the living room; spreading throughout the structure. The cause of the fire appears to be accidental and caused by some faulty wiring in the wall. No injuries were reported. Engines 1, 15, 18, truck 10, rescue 18 and District Chief Aubrey Bishop responded to the fire. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Bureau of Fire Prevention. ###
