Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org FIRE DAMAGES TILLMAN’S CORNER BUSINESS Mobile Firefighters responded to a building fire located at 5364 Highway 90, West in Tillman’s Corner, early Wednesday morning, December 17. The call was received at approximately 4:23 a.m. and firefighters arrived at approximately 4:30 a.m. reporting heavy fire and smoke coming from the Hair It Is Hair and Tanning Salon. A second alarm was called for to bring in additional resources but those units were later released. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire. The fire originated in the Salon portion of the business extending through the attic. An adjacent vacant suite received water and smoke damage. The cause of the fire, while doesn’t appear to be suspicious at this time, remains under investigation. No injuries were reported and damage to the building and its contents are estimated at approximately $200 thousand. Engines 6, 7, 19, truck 24, rescue 7 and Captain Eric Creel responded as part of the first alarm assignment. Engines 22, 23, truck 5 and District Chief Billy Roach responded as part of the second alarm assignment. ###
