Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org FEMALE ARRESTED CHARGED WITH ARSON 2ND DEGREE Mobile Fire-Rescue Department Investigators arrested a Mobile woman Friday morning, June 12 after she confessed to setting the house she was renting on fire. The call was received at approximately 8:27 a.m. after a neighbor noticed smoke coming from the two-story brick structure located at 2554 Legends Row. Firefighters arrived at approximately 8:36 a.m. discovered fire in the living room and took less than five minutes to put out the main body of fire. There was smoke damage throughout the structure. Tiffany Blakely, who will be 36 next week, confessed to Investigators with the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department after questioning and is being charged with Arson 2nd degree, because the house was unoccupied at the time of the fire. Blakely is renting the house from Better Homes, Inc. who owns the property. No injuries were reported and the fire caused an estimated $45 thousand in damage to the structure and contents. Engines 1, 22, 29, truck 5, rescue 1, District Chief Dexter Pettaway responded. The Bureau of Fire Prevention is investigating. ###
