The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department is proud to announce Fire Service Driver Evan Seaman as the November Firefighter of the Month.
On Sunday, September 8, 2019, Fire Service Driver Evan L. Seaman and his wife, Dr. Deanna Seaman, were on a helicopter tour in Alaska. Shortly after liftoff, a medical emergency was declared on board another helicopter which was in their tour group. A male had passed out and presented unresponsive. Upon landing in Juneau, Driver Seaman and his wife noticed that inadequate cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was being performed by a bystander.
After identifying himself as a Firefighter/ Paramedic with Mobile Fire-Rescue, he and his wife were allowed to exit the aircraft to assist. Once with the patient, they immediately intervened and performed CPR, giving compressions and mouth-to-mouth, for approximately 10 minutes until the Capital City Fire-Rescue Department arrived.
Driver Seaman began his career with MFRD in May of 2008, establishing himself as a paramedic and firefighter eager to devote himself to the fire and EMS service. Seaman's selfless act and willingness to help, even while thousands of miles from home, is a testament to his character and commitment to aiding others.
