April 25, 2014 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (SH2014-13) FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION R. Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org EMERGENCY VEHICLE DRIVER SIMULATION PROGRAM The Alabama Fire College will be bringing its Emergency Vehicle Driver Simulation Trainer to the Mobile Fire-Rescue Training Academy for two weeks beginning Tuesday, April 29. During the day, MFRD personnel will be training in the simulator and during the evening, area volunteer fire departments will be training. Simulation training is intended to focus on the behavioral aspect of learning, and through these simulated driving scenarios students are given a safe environment in which they are faced with dangerous exercises and maneuvers with a perceived fear of failure and consequence. The goal of the training is to positively affect the future thought processes and behaviors when presented with similar real life situations. ###
