December 12, 2008 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (SH2008-79) FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION R. Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org ELECTRICAL FIRE CAUSES DAMAGE TO HOUSE Mobile Firefighters are still on the scene of a house fire located at 2251 Vivian Drive this morning, Friday, December 12. The fire was reported at approximately 4:27 a.m. when the male occupant woke up for unknown reason and started checking around the house noticing smoke. He then called 9-1-1 and exited the one-story, wood frame stucco structure. Firefighters arrived approximately 5 minutes later reporting smoke and fire coming from the attic and roof of the structure. The fire appears to have started in the attic and spread through the roof causing an estimated $35 thousand in damage. The occupant told Mobile Fire Investigators that he had been having problems with electrical fuses. Investigators determined the cause of the fire was accidental and was the result of electrical problems in the attic area. No injuries were reported. Engines 6, 22, 23, truck 5, rescue 6 and District Chief Elbert Cross responded. ###
