David Drive Residential Fire

1:30 p.m. — Mobile Fire-Rescue Department dispatchers were on the phone with a man who was inside the burning home and instructed him to go out the window. He was able to escape safely because of these vital instructions.

Heavy smoke conditions obscured the house when crews arrived on scene, but personnel made entry and extinguished a fire that had spread from the kitchen area into the attic.

Two dogs and a cat also survived the incident and were cared by MFRD personnel. No injuries were reported.

Though the fire appeared to originate in the kitchen, it did not appear to be a cooking fire. The fire's cause was classified as undetermined.

8:35 a.m. — Incident Command advised the fire was under control and that the primary search for any victims was all clear.

8:20 a.m. — Mobile Fire-Rescue Department units were dispatched at about 8:14 a.m. for a report of a residential fire in the 2200 block of David Drive in Mobile, Alabama.

At 8:19 a.m., Engine 20 advised incoming units that it was going to be a working fire, with smoke visible in the area.

Engines 20, 23, 8 and 9, Truck 10, Rescue 23, Districts 1 and 4, Rehab 1, and Car 80 have been dispatched to the scene.
