City Council Approves Land Purchase for New Station

Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-7163/Fax: (251) 208-5843 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org CITY COUNCIL APPROVES LAND PURCHASE FOR NEW STATION On Tuesday, April 26, 2016, the Mobile City Council approved $190 thousand for the purchase of property located at Davenport Avenue and Haas Avenue for the purpose of building a new fire station in the Crichton area. At a previous council meeting the council approved to move $355 thousand into a capital fund account designated for the new station and entered into a $145 thousand contract with Watermark Design to design the new station. The new station will replace Gus Rehm Station, which is slated for demolition in the near future, located at Western Drive and Moffett Road and Ashland Place Station, located on Old Shell Road east of Florida Street. Currently the crews from Rehm Station are located at the Berger Station in Theodore. When the station is complete it will be home to engines 12, 15; truck 10; Haz Mat 15; Sprint 10 and a rescue unit. ###
