Steve Huffman Public Information Officer (251) 208-2857/Fax: (251) 208-2861 E-Mail: huffman@cityofmobile.org BRUSH FIRE AT ABANDONED WRECKING YARD Firefighters responded to a large brush fire at an abandoned wrecking yard, Sunday afternoon, January 23, located at 8681 Howells Ferry Road. The property and its contents have been abandoned for quite some time according to reports and the grass was tall from lack of upkeep. Also involved were approximately 25-30 vehicle frames/shells and a camper trailer, which were of no value. No injuries were reported. Engines 1, 18, 29; brush 1, 6; water tanker 36; truck 10; rescue 1 and District Chief David Rose responded. The Bureau of Fire Prevention investigated. ###
