MOBILE, Ala. – At approximately 10:14 hours, Mobile Fire-Rescue Department units were dispatched to the 7600 block of Avenue B. Witnesses in the area called 9-1-1, reporting a residential structure on fire.
Upon arrival on scene, fire personnel confirmed heavy flames and smoke visible at the front-facing portion of a single-story dwelling. Neighbors confirmed that the home was unoccupied at the time of the incident. Fire crews searched the interior of the property and confirmed no victims inside.
Companies on scene were able to fully extinguish and control the flames in under 20-minutes. The structure was ventilated of smoke and toxic gases soon after.
No injuries were sustained during the incident.
Fire Investigators reviewed the scene and conducted an in-depth investigation, which led to a suspect for questioning. Phillip Troy McCan has been arrested and charged with Arson 2nd.
