MOBILE, Ala. – At approximately 09:58 hours, Mobile Fire-Rescue Department companies were dispatched to the 3800 block of Autumndale Drive for a residential fire. Emergency callers reported flames visible from a residential home in the area. Upon arrival on scene, MFRD crews confirmed heavy smoke visible with flames present in a single-story, wood-framed structure.
Crews quickly organized fire scene operations, beginning with primary fire suppression tactics and search & rescue efforts. An interior search of the property yielded no discovered victims. Residents and neighbors confirmed that all occupants had safely evacuated the home prior to MFRD arrival on scene.
Fire was primarily noted in the front-facing portion of the structure, with extension into the attic and roof. Fire crews were able to successfully extinguish all signs of flames and ventilate the home of heated smoke and toxic gases. A single firefighter suffered a lower leg injury during fire ground operations. The firefighter was treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital for the non-life threatening injury.
An investigation is underway to determine a cause of the fire.
