APRIL FIREFIGHTER OF THE MONTH
On Wednesday, April 27 Captain Albert Campbell, a nine year veteran of the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department, received the Pleasant Valley Opportunity Club’s Firefighter of the Month award for April.
On Fat Tuesday, March 8, while at Lulu's Restaurant for the boat parade with his family, Campbell heard a commotion and saw a man on the ground below. Campbell went down to the man and saw that he was in cardiac arrest.
At that time Campbell initiated CPR along with 2 or 3 other bystanders. Campbell acquired an AED from the Lulu's staff and defibrillated the man at least once, and then continued CPR until the Gulf Shores Fire Department arrived.
While not certain if the gentleman survived Campbell was told by an employee of Lulu’s that the Gulf Shores Fire Department called to inform them that the gentleman had a return of pulse en route to the hospital.
