Qualified applicants should go to the personnel department located at 1809 Government Street between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday during the open application period and fill out an application. Minimum qualification requirements are: Graduation from a standard senior high school and completion of emergency medical technician paramedic course work; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements (GED). Applicant must possess a valid Alabama Driver’s License, a valid license as a credentialed Paramedic from the State of Alabama Division of Emergency Medical Services and must have current Board Certification from the National Registry of EMTs. Must obtain within the first year of employment certification as a Firefighter in the State of Alabama. Check with Mobile County Personnel Department for other requirements. Mobile Fire-Rescue Department’s starting salary for Firemedic is $2,328 monthly plus benefits and $27,936 annually. The examination will consist of two sections: 1. a physical ability test scored pass/fail, and 2. applicants will be scored on the basis of an evaluation of their education, training, experience and personal qualifications.
