Engine 6 of Mobile Fire-Rescue Department responded to a smoke complaint at about 3:30 p.m. for a caller's report of smoke near Cottage Hill and Cody Road, and upgraded the call to a full response after receiving another call pinpointing a residential fire in the 7000 block of Anclote Court in Mobile, Alabama, Thursday, March 28, 2024.
Upon arrival, smoke and flames were visible from a 2-story, wood-frame home. Firefighting efforts were able to bring the fire under control quickly. Searches conducted for anyone inside the residence were all clear. A firefighter was injured during the incident and was transported to a hospital for evaluation and treatment with a non-life-threatening injury.
District 2 and 4 chiefs, Engines 6, 19, 22, 23 and 22, Truck 5, Rescues 6 and 26, and Rehab 1 responded to the incident.
As of 4:46 p.m., crews are still working on the scene to extinguish remaining hotpsots. The fire is under investigation at this time.
