Alabama School of Math and Science Fire

Mobile Fire-Rescue Department units were dispatched at about 9:47 p.m. for a report of an electronic alarm at the Alabama School of Math and Science at 1255 Dauphin Street in Mobile, Alabama, Monday night, December 30, 2024.

Units arrived on scene to find smoke visible from the roof of a four-story brick residence hall. Crews made entry into the building and found materials burning in an attic space which they extinguished. No students were at the building, as they were on winter break.

Crews did a primary and secondary search with no one found. Crews did salvage and overhaul to minimize water damage.

There were no reports of injuries. Districts 1 and 3, Engines 3, 8, 9, and 23, Trucks 4 and 24, Rescue 8, Car 80, and Rehab 1 were dispatched to the scene. The fire is under investigation at this time.
