UPDATE: Through the course of the investigation, 43-year-old Jaymar Pettis was identified as the primary suspect responsible for fires set at Luckie’s Beauty Salon and McDonald’s, causing more than approximately $50,000 in damages. On Tuesday, November 2, 2021, Fire Investigators, with assistance from the Mobile Police Department, located and arrested. Pettis is charged with two counts of Arson 2nd and one count of Criminal Trespassing 3rd:

Arson 2 & Criminal Trespassing 3 – Unoccupied building at 2692 Government Blvd

MOBILE, Ala. – At approximately 1:10 PM, Mobile Fire-Rescue Department crews were dispatched to Luckie’s Beauty Salon, 2674 Government Blvd, for a commercial building on fire. Fire personnel arrived on scene to discover smoke and flames visible at the rear of a single story commercial mall.
Fire scene operations were immediately established. Suppression teams entered the front of the building and circled to the rear-exterior for a coordinated fire attack.
All occupants were successfully evacuated from the structure. A thorough search of all businesses confirmed that no civilians were trapped inside of the structure.
After approximately 25 minutes, all signs of flames were successfully extinguished. Crews evaluated roof conditions to confirm potential fire extension to businesses.
There were no injuries reported from the scene. The cause of the fire remains undetermined pending further investigation.

MOBILE, Ala. – On Monday, November 1, 2021, at approximately 11:47 PM, Mobile Fire-Rescue Department crews were dispatched to McDonald’s at 2692 Government Blvd. Witnesses called 9-1-1, stating that smoke was visible in the area behind the commercial restaurant.
Upon arrival on scene, fire personnel described smoke and flames present in a detached storage unit at the rear of the McDonald’s parking lot. The fire was quickly extinguished without any injuries.
Initial canvas of the scene indicates that the fire had been intentionally set. Additional details will be produced as the investigation unfolds.
