Councilman Levon Manzie Continues Push for Youth Programs: Lauds Stimpson Administration for Budget Commitment

Mobile, AL – This past June, I called for the creation of a Department of Youth Services. This Department’s aim would be to improve access to key educational, extracurricular and employment programs for our city’s youth.

For the sake of our city, we must improve opportunity and outcomes for our young people. Their success is absolutely integral to the success of our communities and Mobile as a whole.

I am incredibly encouraged that Mayor Stimpson also sees the need for such a program as he demonstrated through the allocation of $425,000 in his proposed budget released last Friday.

I look forward to working with the Administration and my Council colleagues to ensure this is the best program it can be and that we devote as many resources as possible towards these programs – especially summer employment opportunities for Mobile’s youth.
