Major Projects Coming to Trinity Gardens Community

 

Mobile, AL – Tomorrow morning the City Council will vote on two Capital Improvement Plan projects that will bring big changes to the Trinity Gardens Community. The two projects have been spearheaded by Council Vice President Fred Richardson, who represents the area.

The first project consists of a total renovation of the playground area at the Trinity Gardens Park. Currently, the playground consists of two rusted swing sets standing amid drainage tubes protruding from the sinking ground. The swing sets will be removed and the entire playground area rebuilt with a new drainage system and footings. A new play structure will be installed in addition to benches and trash receptacles. The proposed contract for that project is with Jeffcoat Construction, LLC for $47,672.00.

“Good public parks are key to creating healthy children and, in turn, strong communities,” said Councilman Fred Richardson. “I am so happy that we are able to bring these major improvements so local children will have a great place to come play and their caregivers will have a place to watch them from.”

The other project on the agenda is for major street and drainage improvements in the community on Warsaw Avenue and Collins Avenue from Main Street to Jessie Street. These drainage projects will tackle a number of the dangerous open ditches that run throughout the community. The proposed contract for this work is with Neel-Schaffer, Inc. for $712,372.56,

“For the first time, City funds will be used to close ditches in Trinity Gardens, from my CIP funds. Without CIP there will be no ditch closures on the part of the City,” said Richardson.
