Old Shell Rd. Closure at Railroad Overpass
Mobile, Ala. — Old Shell Rd. will temporarily close at the railroad underpass near Union Ave. on Saturday while the City of Mobile works to clean and evaluate the stormwater assets in the area.
Between 4 a.m. and noon on Saturday, April 12, this section of roadway will be closed so that Public Works crews can bring in equipment to clean the drainage infrastructure around the overpass. During the closure, the Department of Engineering and Infrastructure will also evaluate the underground infrastructure in this area. The roadway is expected to reopen by Saturday afternoon.
Traffic traveling east and west will need to follow the signed detour route from Sage Ave. to Springhill Ave. and New Shiloh Ave. to Old Shell Road. A map of the detour is available below.
