National Day of Prayer hosting sunrise, sunset services at Brookley by the Bay
 

Mobile, Ala. – On Thursday, May 1, Mobilians and visitors are invited to celebrate the National Day of Prayer during sunrise and sunset events on the beautiful shores of western Mobile Bay.

Hosted by the National Day of Prayer organization with support from the City of Mobile and Mayor Sandy Stimpson, these special events aim to unite the community in prayer for our city, nation, and world. Two gatherings will be held on the “Brookley by the Bay” property located at 25 Old Bay Front Drive in Mobile, AL, 36615. Both events on May 1 are free and open to the public.

Surrounded by the natural beauty of Mobile Bay, this year’s gathering offers a moment of reflection, renewal, and collective prayer. Community leaders, faith groups, and individuals of all faiths are welcome to attend and participate. Both the morning and evening gatherings will feature Pastors Joe and Linda Johnson from Mount Hebron Church Ministries and Pam Hanes of Pam Hanes Ministries.

There will also be musical performances by Apostolic-Bethlehem Ministries, the Bishop State Community Choir, Kenneth Brandon, Katie Braswell, Youth With A Vision, and Janiah Todd.

“Looking out over Mobile Bay, we remember its original name: ‘Bay of the Holy Spirit.’ It’s a fitting reminder of the power of faith and unity,” Mayor Sandy Stimpson said. “This year’s National Day of Prayer events will be a unique opportunity to come together in prayer for the future of our city.” 

Held annually on the first Thursday in May, the National Day of Prayer is recognized across the United States, bringing millions of Americans together in prayer. It is organized by the National Day of Prayer Task Force and celebrated by believers of multiple faiths across the country each year.

The events at Brookley by the Bay on Thursday, May 1, are being organized and hosted by the National Day of Prayer with support from the City of Mobile and Mayor Stimpson. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets for seating. A map of available parking is attached. More information about the National Day of Prayer is available at nationaldayofprayer.org/.
