Local sponsors needed for ‘Gentleman in the Making Camp’ for teen boys
Mobile, Ala. — The Mobile Police Department’s Family Intervention Team is seeking sponsors for the 2nd Annual “Blue Ties for Guys: A Gentleman in the Making Camp” for teenage boys in Mobile.
For the second consecutive year, Blue Ties for Guys will unite teenage boys in the Mobile area with role models from MPD and the City of Mobile’s Department of Public Safety. Developed by MPD’s Family Intervention Team, this one-day camp aims to teach young men aged 13 to 15 proper etiquette and attire while highlighting the importance of developing strong social skills, decision-making abilities, and goal-setting techniques.
By having our officers and public safety leaders directly engage with these young men, we are connecting them to positive role models while also building trust and respect between law enforcement and young Mobilians. Last year’s Blue Ties for Guys event was a big success, thanks in large part to support from several local businesses, whose contributions allowed participants to receive a tailored suit and participate in a photo shoot in their new, professional wardrobe.
This year, we are once again seeking partners to help support this unique program for young men. Individuals, businesses, or organizations interested in supporting this year’s “Blue Ties for Guys” event can do so through the Mobile Law Enforcement Foundation. Checks can be made payable to the Mobile Law Enforcement Foundation at P.O. Box 1866, Mobile, AL 36633. For more information on the event, please contact Family Intervention Specialist Jennifer King at jennifer.king@cityofmobile.org.
