The City of Mobile’s annual MoonPie Over Mobile New Year Celebration is less than 24 hours away.
After more than a year of pandemic restrictions, Mobile City Council President C.J. Small acknowledges that while many of us are eager to get back to the activities we enjoyed pre-pandemic, we must do so safely.
“While our annual MoonPie Drop is one of the most attended celebrations in our city, I’d like to ask everyone participating in Friday night’s event to let’s do our part to make it one of the safest,” said Small. “With positive COVID-19 cases on the rise in our area, I’d like to urge all citizens planning to participate in the celebration to take proper precautions.”
Small suggests that if you’re not already vaccinated to please consider doing so. Also, if you’re not feeling well, please stay home and if you are attending the festivities in-person to please mask up and practice social distancing.
“We have so much to celebrate but, we must do it responsibly,” he said. “This is for our health and the health of our friends and family. By doing so, we can ensure a great start to 2022.”
