MOBILE, AL – On September 12, Mobile City Council allocated $5.8 million from Unassigned Fund Balance in the General Fund to the Capital Improvement Fund for projects regarding N Washington Avenue street and culvert repairs, and median improvements along US Highway 45. An agreement with the Alabama Department of Transportation was authorized for streetscape resurfacing improvements along US Highway 45 as well.
An agreement with Carnival Cruise Line was authorized to allocate $140,000 for cruise terminal and berthing services.
The Council demonstrated its commitment to maintenance and services by approving more than $44,000 in purchase orders directed toward enhancements at the Dauphin Island Parkway Recycling Center. Additionally, an allocation of $390,000 was approved to Best Practices, LLC for storm ditch clearing services, encompassing areas from College Lane to Moore Creek and from Demotropolis to I-65.
A Memorandum of Understanding with Mobile County was authorized outlining the transition of City services into newly annexed areas.
A community meeting for members of the Pinehill Area in District 5 and Midtown Area of District 1 will be held on September 19 at Springhill Avenue United Methodist Church, Westside Campus at 6:00 p.m. to address animal control concerns. Representatives from the city’s Animal Services staff will be present to go over proper procedures for submitting complaints and will take questions from those in attendance.
