Mobile City Council April Committee Meetings

Mobile, AL – The Mobile City Council will hold committee meetings in the next few weeks on key city issues.
The Capital Improvements Plan (CIP) Committee meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 5 has been moved to Tuesday, April 12 at 1 p.m. The committee will receive information from the finance department regarding past expenditures related to the CIP ordinance. They will also discuss increasing the amount of CIP funds per district. Councilman Ben Reynolds chairs this committee and is joined by Councilman Scott Jones and Council President C.J. Small.
Immediately following, the Public Safety Committee will meet to discuss ordinance 61-01 regarding the regulations of low-speed vehicles and whether to allow them on certain roadways. A low-speed vehicle is any four-wheeled motor vehicle with a top speed not greater than twenty-five (25) miles per hour and which has a gross vehicle weight rating of fewer than 3,000 pounds and, a) is certified as meeting all federal and state laws, rules and regulations governing safety, emissions, and anti-theft standards, including the safety standards provided in 49 C.F.R. Section 571.500; b) has a 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN) which conforms to National Highway Safety and Traffic Administration standards, a manufacturer’s statement of origin that states the vehicle complies with the safety standards set forth in 49 C.F.R. Section 571.500, and has affixed thereto a decal certifying that the vehicle meets such safety standards; and c) has attached thereto a current and valid state of Alabama license plate. Council Vice President Gina Gregory chairs this committee and is joined by Councilman William Carroll and Councilman Scott Jones.
These meetings are for Council discussion only and will be held in the Council’s conference room on the 9th floor. No public comment will be taken.
