Dedication Ceremony to Honor Beloved Coach Herschell Wilson with Field Naming

Mobile, AL — On Friday, December 13, the City of Mobile will dedicate the football field at Peters Park/Sullivan Park in memory of longtime community coach, Herschell Wilson. The dedication ceremony, hosted by District 2 Councilman William Carroll, will take place at 1 p.m. at 351 N Catherine St, Mobile, AL 36603.
The field will now be known as “Herschell Wilson Sr. Field,” commemorated by a new scoreboard installed by Mobile Parks and Recreation, bearing Coach Wilson’s name. Councilman Carroll stated, “Coach Wilson’s legacy of mentorship and dedication to the youth in our community is deeply felt. This field is a tribute to his passion and impact on countless lives.”
Coach Wilson’s wife, Mrs. Wilson, and their youngest son, Herschell Wilson II, will be present to honor his memory. The late Coach Wilson dedicated much of his life to mentoring young athletes in Mobile and left a lasting impression through his commitment to sportsmanship and personal development.
