Councilmembers Manzie, Richardson and Small Propose Police Citizens Community Relations Advisory Council

Mobile, AL – Councilmembers Levon Manzie, Fred Richardson and C.J. Small have proposed the creation of a Police Citizens Community Relations Advisory Council. The Council’s purpose would be to improve relationships between citizens, communities and the police and working together towards the common goals of promoting and ensuring law and order, reducing crime, and the protection of the community.

“Our communities want this. They want a more formal venue for addressing concerns and building relationships with the police,” said Councilman C.J. Small. “This is a way to do those things while keeping politics out of these issues.”

The proposed ordinance will be brought up at next Tuesday’s weekly Council meeting. It is not expected to be voted on at that meeting.

“This is the beginning of a conversation. I would hope we can all work together on this to make sure what we create is positive and productive,” Small said.
