MOBILE, AL – On July 24, the City Council approved an ordinance to extend and renew the Capital Improvement Program through 2028, deploying additional funding to capital projects and infrastructure improvements throughout all seven council districts. The ordinance increases the amount of CIP funds allocated to each district from $3 million to $4 million annually.
The City introduced an $18 million contract with the Alabama Department of Transportation for ongoing work on Zeigler Boulevard, specifically focusing on the area between Athey Road and Forest Hill Drive. The Council approved a contract with Thompson Engineering, Inc. for street and culvert repairs, and funds were allocated for the annual Moon Pie Drop celebration.
Official canvassing of the election results confirm Josh Woods as winner of the Special Municipal Election to fill the District 6 Councilmember seat on July 25. Councilman-elect Woods will be sworn in on August 8 at 10:00 a.m.
