A Message from Mayor Stimpson - September 8
Sep 8th, 2020
Good evening,
It is 8:30 p.m. on September 8, 2020 and I am writing to give you an update from the City of Mobile.
Today, the Mobile County Health Department reports 12,642 COVID-19 cases, an increase of 26 cases. To review the detailed report, click here.
This evening I want to tell you about the most important thing you can do as a citizen right now for the City of Mobile - make sure to get counted on the 2020 Census. The Census impacts every single one of us in some way. At stake is critical federal funding for our community.
The City of Mobile and Mobile County are collaborating on an important Census participation event which will occur at Ladd Stadium this Saturday, Sept. 12 at 9am. There will be individuals on site to help citizens fill out their Census information. The event will also include drive-thru food distribution by Feeding the Gulf Coast. Participants can enter into a drawing for one of several laptops, which were donated by Commissioner Ludgood.
Additionally, starting today, several public libraries will have computer access available by appointment for citizens to fill out their Census forms. It is important to note that you don't need the Census code when filling out the form online. Just click to close out the field requesting your code and you can proceed by filling in the questions.
Please don't let this sit on your desk any longer and make sure to remind your friends and family!
In closing tonight, short weeks like this often remind me that there are only so many hours in the day and so much sand in the hourglass. Every day our team is constantly working hard to find creative solutions for the big challenges and the small problems too. They are dedicated to doing good work on behalf of you. Thanks to their determination, there are many exciting announcements coming soon from City Hall. Stay tuned!
Sleep tight!
