A Message from Mayor Stimpson - July 10
Jul 10th, 2020
Good evening,
It is 9 p.m. on Friday, July 10 and I am writing to give you an update on the City of Mobile's efforts regarding COVID-19.
As of tonight, there have been 4,651 total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Mobile County, an increase of 203 since Wednesday. There are 319 who have been hospitalized to date, and 142 people have died due to Coronavirus. A total of 2,340 presumed recovered.
Today's increase of 203 new cases is a 100 percent increase from Thursday and the single highest total since the pandemic started. The surge in new cases is putting tremendous stress on our health care system.
Please be mindful that COVID-19 is actively spreading in our community. We all must continue the recommended safety guidelines:
- Wear a mask when in public
- Keep a safe distance of at least 6 feet from others
- Wash your hands regularly
- Stay home if you are sick
Please use particular caution when shopping in grocery stores, pharmacies and other retail outlets, as we are seeing an increase in community spread. Avoid unnecessary travel and avoid large groups where possible. By using caution, we will slow the spread of COVID-19 and help our business stay open.
